Time of call: 8:01 p.m.
Reported as: Fire in a garage
Location: 100 block of Windstone Park
AFD resources: 4 Apparatus and 13 Firefighters
Injuries: None reported

Additional response details:

• Prior to AFD arrival, two occupants had evacuated safely. Their cat was still inside.
• Heavy smoke was encountered upon entering the home.
• The fire was located in an attached garage in a townhouse complex and quickly extinguished by the first arriving crew.
• The neighbouring units were briefly evacuated as a precaution.
• The homeowners cat was found unharmed and the home was cleared of smoke before the departure of AFD crews.
• The fire is under investigation but has been deemed not suspicious. Damage is estimated to be approximately $10,000.

Reminder for residents: Never go back inside for pets in a fire. Tell firefighters if your pet is trapped.
