The City of Airdrie offers approximately 147 kilometres of asphalt pathway and 37 kilometres of concrete sidewalks for beautiful bike rides or walks around the city.
There are some stretches of pathways that you can find historical markers with information on Airdrie's past.
The TRANS CANADA TRAIL (TCT) is the world’s longest network of multi-use recreational trails. As of August 2021, the Trail stretches more than 28,000 km – and continues to grow – across every province and territory.
The trail showcases Canada’s diverse landscapes and cultures, and a sustainable national asset that fosters unity, collaboration and connectedness. Our national trail is managed by local trail groups and partners who work in conjunction with Trans Canada Trail, a registered charity.
Once fully completed, the TCT will extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and all the way to the Arctic Oceans, seamlessly connecting over 1,000 communities and reaching 34 million Canadians.
In Airdrie, our segment of the trail seamlessly integrates with Irricana's road network and aligns with Rocky View County's proposed route.
This year’s maintenance and repair work projects were funded in part by a grant from Trans Canada Trail to enhance our local section of Canada’s national trail.
