There are several communities in Airdrie that do not have a Community Area Structure Plan associated with them. These communities have been categorized and organized as either east or west of Highway 2.
The East area communities include; East Lake, Meadowbrook, Thorburn, Big Springs and Yankee Valley Estates, which have all reached build out some time ago.
The East communities are home to two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, Bert Church Theatre, Genesis Place (Recreation Centre), East Lake Park and Ron Ebbesen Arena.
East Lake is also home to many City facilities including the recycling depot and our Parks and Public Works offices.
The East side non-CASP area communities account for a total population of approximately 7,683 people and 4,391 jobs. While population accounts for only 11 per cent of Airdrie’s total population, this area of the city accounts for almost 30 per cent of all jobs and currently represents approximately 64 per cent of all constructed industrial lands in Airdrie.
This area is home to some of our largest employers including Propak, United Safety, Condillo Foods, First Canada ULC and many more.
