• The licensed Airdrie business must be:
•  located within the Downtown
• an existing nonresidential storefront or property
• The project must be:
• Intended to create attractive storefronts
• Visible to the public and intended for their visual enjoyment or use
• Installed on the exterior of buildings, except for interior storefront window displays
• Meet all applicable safety codes, development requirements and comply with zoning requirements upon completion; and
• Streetscaping and beautification must be approved before installation. Existing streetscaping and beautification is not eligible for this grant.

Examples of streetscaping and beautification:

• Storefront merchandise displays and platforms
• Storefront treatments to window glass, including window graphics
• Storefront lighting, including window display lighting, seasonal lighting and string lights lighting
• Temporary artwork and installations in storefronts
• Façade murals
• Seasonal planters, hanging baskets, and similar items
• Benches or similar seating
• Bicycle racks
• Signage allowed by the Land Use Bylaw

Eligible:

• Materials and supplies including shipping and freight (see list of streetscaping and beautification examples)
• Professional fees, including project management, design, and engineering, to a maximum of 15 per cent of eligible project costs
• Municipal planning permit fees (development, building and trade permits)
• Direct project labour costs
• Rental of tools and equipment
• Goods and Service Tax (GST)

Ineligible:

• Work considered to be routine maintenance
• Insurance and warranties
• Costs associated with time and/or labour performed by the applicant and/or applicant’s staff
• Non-specific costs, including overheads, profit, and contingencies
• Costs associated with window treatments that obscure street-level windows, doors, and entrances
• Vinyl wraps, security bars, and rolling shutters on windows and doors
• Incidental costs, such as gas, tools (purchases), *or other consumables
• Costs associated with cost overruns
• Changes to the project scope that have not been pre-approved
• Structural repairs
• Roof repairs or replacements
• Landscaping not immediately adjacent to the key façade

Applications will be accepted from May 1, 2024 until 4 p.m. MST Aug. 30, 2024.

Funding is provided on a first-come first-served basis until available funds have been committed.

Projects must be completed within 6 months of the date on the executed agreement.

• Completed application form
• Pre-project photos – photos must show current site and its context
• Project costs – one of the following: a detailed contractor estimate, OR applicants who directly purchase materials and supplies for their may submit a project budget with product information and pricing in lieu of a contractor estimate (no labour costs will be reimbursed)
• Certificate of title (must be issued within the last 45 days)
• Letter of authorization, if applicable
