Steps to file an assessment complaint:
All property details can be viewed by contacting the Assessment Department or online through myAIRDRIE.
Ensure the following details are correct:
If you suspect an error, contact the Assessment department to discuss your concerns with an assessor.
It is not a requirement to contact the Assessment department prior to submitting a formal complaint. However, contacting the Assessment department may resolve your concern without filing a formal complaint.
You have the right to file a formal complaint against an assessment with the Assessment Review Board (ARB).
Submitting an assessment complaint is an opportunity to prove the assessment is incorrect or unfair.
March 25, 2024, is the last date to file a complaint on 2024 property assessment notices. For more information on timelines and schedules, view the Key Assessment Dates.
Please note: if you have filed a complaint, you still must pay your taxes by the due date to avoid penalties. Taxes are due at the end of June.
All complaints must be made using the Assessment Review Board Complaint Form (PDF).
The filing fee must accompany the complaint form.
Complaint fees (see below) must be paid before the complaint deadline. There is no complaint without the fee, and failure to file fees before the complaint deadline will likely result in an invalid appeal.
An agent may file a complaint on your behalf if you complete an Assessment Complaints Agent Authorization Form (PDF) and include it with your complaint.
To ensure the fillable PDF form can be filled out:
1. Use a device that is NOT a mobile device (e.g. desktop, laptop)
2. Download the file onto your computer
3. Open the file with "Adobe Acrobat Reader".
You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed for signing using a digital signature.
