The Airdrie Fire Department (AFD) offers a variety of public education programs, information and safety resources to increase awareness of fire prevention and safety.
Students, clubs, associations and citizens are invited to book educational tours, presentations and public education events with the Airdrie Fire Department. During public events, participants have the opportunity to meet the dedicated staff of the Airdrie Fire Department. They will learn important fire and life safety information, visit the fire station and view firefighting equipment.
Check an available date and time for a fire station of your choice, and fill out the public education event request form for review. Staff will determine if anything further will be required to complete the booking and the organizer will be notified.
Check fire station availability
Station tours are available seven days a week at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. (tours are approximately 45 minutes in duration) at any of our locations.
Once you know which station you would like to book for a tour, please ensure that you meet the following requirements.
Please inform the fire department if participants require further assistance with accessing the facility.
Assisted fire drills provides organizations, schools, multi-residential and commercial locations with assistance in assessing and conducting fire evacuation practices.
These are beneficial for several reasons, including:
Career presentations are available to those interested in firefighting as a profession. The minimum age for a career presentation is 14 years of age and Grade 9 of High School. The career presentation provides information on firefighter schools and training locations.
Adult safety presentations are available with a variety of topics and can be combined to make up a 30-45 minute presentation.
Topics include:
The Learn Not to Burn (LNTB) program is designed specifically for preschool to grade two students. This program provides a self teaching kit filled with games, activities and a teacher’s guide for presenting key fire safety messages to young children. Fire truck visits can be booked after all program lessons are completed.
LNTB kits can be picked up at the Chinook Winds Fire Station. Users can also download the program lesson plans here.
Once you have delivered the program, your class instructor can book a fire truck visit through the event request form. Our on duty crew will bring a fire truck to your location. Participants will tour the truck and a firefighter in fire gear will confirm the teaching points covered in the lesson plan.
Please understand the attending fire crew is on duty and maybe called away if an emergency occurs.
We have been invited to a lot of birthday parties lately! All of us at the Airdrie Fire Department are excited to send special wishes on your special day! We would like to help you celebrate with a personal message from the Fire Chief, some ‘Sparky’ activities to do at home and a photo from the fire crew.
While we appreciate your support and would love to drive by each and every party, our crews need to be available to respond to emergency calls at a moment’s notice.
If you are requesting a celebration for a child between the ages of three and twelve or have a special circumstance, please fill out this request form (pdf) and email it to fire.department@airdrie.ca .
